Many in Santa Barbara might assume that legal action in car accident cases only arises when those deemed not to be responsible for an accident suffer the most from it. This assumption likely comes from the misconception that a lawsuit is meant to be a form of retribution. Yet in many cases, legal action only ensues when an accident victim has few options for affording the expenses associated with a car accident. That can include cases where the one who may have caused an accident sustained the worst injuries or suffered the greatest extent of the damage.

Such appears to be the case in a recent multi-car collision that occurred in Oildale. A man sustained major injuries after colliding with several vehicles on a local road before his own vehicle came to a rest in a nearby McDonald’s parking lot. Accident investigators say that the man and another driver were both traveling down that road at excessive speeds, but that it was the man’s unsafe land change that caused the collision. His current condition was not reported. Other involved in the accident were said to have sustained minor injuries.

Even minor injuries, however, can result in big expenses. Compensation coming from legal action may be the only option some have in dealing with these costs. As difficult as it may be to seek legal action against one who is also suffering, one may be left with little choice. Yet such a decision is not one that should be taken lightly. Those contemplating it may first want to seek the advice of an experienced personal injury attorney.
