After receiving a record-breaking number of high-achieving applicants, we are thrilled to announce that Gabe Runyen is the recipient of the 2024 Maho & Prentice Scholarship of $5000.

Gabe achieved an impressive 4.91 GPA from Dos Pueblos High School, where he was a member of their esteemed Engineering Academy. Alongside his demanding academic schedule, Gabe also participated in Varsity Soccer and Varsity Track and Field. At the age of fourteen, Gabe initiated his first entrepreneurial venture, GR Visuals, a service specializing in aerial photography for commercial and residential real estate. More recently, Gabe started a second business, Mountain View Pressure Washing. In addition to all these achievements, Gabe works as a server at Nikka Ramen in Goleta, California.

Gabe’s essay was particularly impressive. He discussed his idea to connect Santa Barbara businesses with Santa Barbara schools, writing, “By bridging the gap between education and industry, we can create a dynamic learning environment that ignites students’ passion and transforms their attitudes towards education.” We are excited to watch him follow this ambition through his college career.

We applaud Gabe for his strong work ethic and academic excellence. Next year, he will attend the University of Colorado Boulder, where he has been accepted into their Leeds Business Program. We wish him continued success and are honored to support his further education with the Maho Prentice Scholarship.
